Idlewyld’s Annual 4th of July Parade

For nearly 50 years, the Idlewyld neighborhood has celebrated the 4th of July with a very special parade around the neighborhood. We meet at 9 am at the home of Dick and Karen Owen, with pets, bikes, wagons, strollers, golf carts, and, of course, all of us decorated for our nation’s birthday.

Staff has added additional Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) educational meetings to help residents learn more about available housing assistance programs and the application process related to recovery from the April 2023 flood event.

These informational sessions are designed to provide residents with an overview of available programs, eligibility requirements and guidance on how to apply for assistance.

The City of Fort Lauderdale is preparing to launch housing assistance programs and infrastructure initiatives funded through the federal Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Program to support recovery efforts following the April 2023 flood event.

As part of this process, the City will host a series of public meetings and outreach events to help residents learn more about available programs, eligibility requirements and how to apply for assistance.

Programs may include support for:
• Home rehabilitation and reconstruction
• Elevation of homes
• Reimbursement for eligible flood-related expenses
• Other recovery and mitigation activities
