About / Description: Melrose Park: A Caring CommunityLocated at the western edge of the City of Fort Lauderdale, Bordered to the north by Broward Boulevard to the south by Jackson Boulevard to the east by Southwest 31st Avenue and to the west by State Road 7, Melrose Park is one of the newer additions to the City of Fort Lauderdale thanks to annexation in 2002. Developed during the 1950’s and 60’s it is easily recognizable on any map of the area by the unusual “circular” pattern of wide avenues. This 2,000-home development has a population of just over 7,000 people and is one of the city’s most diverse neighborhoods.

From the height of its development Melrose Park developed a rich tradition of being a prestigious neighborhood. Now, with the many on-going improvements throughout the community, the neighborhood is beginning to restore some of its past glory and desirability. The community has a strong sense of identity and has always played an active role in the City. Melrose Park retains many of its original residents along with newer immigrants from around the Caribbean.

The Melrose Park Homeowners Association formed in the early 1960’s boasts active resident participation in projects that benefit our community and our city. Over the past years the Association has worked closely with Broward County during their multi-million dollar infrastructure improvement project in Melrose Park. Improvements made include new sewer lines, new water distribution mains, and improved storm water drainage. With the approval of several NCIP grants, we are now poised to do the same with the City of Fort Lauderdale partnering to further beautify the neighborhood by adding entrance monument signs, new landscaping and solar lighting in 4 circular intersections and replacement of street signs.

Local real estate agents refer to Melrose Park as “The best housing value in Fort Lauderdale”
